Temporary access creates a real WordPress user on the site that stops working at a set time. It solves the problem of the contractor who needed access in March and still has it in November.

Granting

On the site's Temporary access tab, choose a role and a duration — a few hours through several days. You get a link to hand over. No password travels between you.

What happens at expiry

The account is removed automatically. Anything it did stays attributed to it in the site's history, which is the point: you can answer who changed what afterwards.

Revoking early

Revoke from the same tab. It takes effect immediately, not at the original expiry.

When to prefer something else

For someone who needs to look at the site rather than change it, feedback access is lighter — it needs no WordPress account and gives no ability to edit. Temporary access is for people who genuinely need to work in wp-admin.
